Your home office should inspire you and you should fill it with things you love. There’s no doubt about it. But storage and organization are necessary for keeping you productive… Especially in a small space.
I started working from home for the first time in May and knew right away I wanted to create a beautiful, feminine home office that made me excited to go to work each day. I wanted a space I’d love spending a 40-hour workweek in, because for me, sitting in front of the TV or on my bed weren’t options. (Bye, bye productivity!)
There was one major flaw in my home office, though… It didn’t have a closet, which left me with boxes of office supplies and decorations that had no home. Of course, like any savvy pinner, I looked to Pinterest for inspiration. I fell in love with the idea of having a large shelving unit to store all my office supplies and office decor. I decided on the IKEA Kallax Shelf Unit since it was not only budget-friendly but had lots of cubbies for storage. Turns out, it’s been the perfect solution for keeping my small office organized.
Home Office Organization + Decorating
When looking for home office storage, keep in mind that the unit you chose should be pretty but practical. A white shelf unit displays framed photos, vintage finds and books…
…but it also has hidden storage too. I love how a shelf with cubbies can house baskets. We filled ours with books and other office supplies that we didn’t want on display, because let’s be honest, not ALL office supplies is worthy of sitting out. ;)
