Working in an office for a couple years led me to own many pairs of dress pants… But they were all black and gray. That was until I discovered the three main traits most stylish pairs have in common. Now, I’m confident investing in trendier pants knowing they can still look polished.

So, let me guess… You’re not reading this because you are someone who just absolutely loves dress pants. Most likely, you’re reading this because dress pants are part of the dress code at work. Don’t worry — I’m here to help!
I’ll be the first to admit, finding the perfect pair of not-boring dress pants isn’t easy. But it’s much easier when you know what to look for. This pair from Express checked all my boxes, so I bought them in the “Military” army green color shown above and in gray. I’m also now eyeing them in blue. Does anyone else like to buy multiples when they finally find something they love? ;)
3 Traits of Stylish Dress Pants
1. Color: While, yes, I do love my black and gray pairs, those aren’t the only colors that go with everything. I find military green matches most of the tops in my closet, especially during the fall. If you’re feeling bold, try a pair of blue, pink or printed pants that will add life to your workwear.
2. Length: I always feel trendier in ankle-length pants. The best part is they look amazing with almost any pair of heels or flats. (I love how the pair above looks with my favorite floral loafers!)
3. Waist: Mid-rise and high-rise pants look more polished and professional in the workplace. They also make it easier to tuck in flowy blouses. Go for pairs that sit at or just above your belly button.
