This skirt is no stranger to The Stylish Print (it was last seen here), because it’s one of my all-time favorites. I love everything about it, from the pleats to the length to the pastel colors. The pastel colors, though, make it easy to peg it as a “summer” skirt. But I refuse to stop wearing it, even as we transition from summer to fall.

I’ve mentioned before that versatility is super important for me when I’m buying new items. Being able to transition from spring and summer to fall and winter is one of my shopping criteria. But did I buy this skirt to be versatile? To be honest, no. I bought this skirt a couple years ago for its feminine feel, not its versatility. Turns out, it’s more versatile than I ever imagined it would be.
At first glance, this skirt is an obvious choice for spring and summer. But since it’s one my favorites, I was determined to make it work for the next couple months. Here are three reasons this outfit is perfect for fall:
1.Pastels + Black
Mixing pastels with dark colors makes a summery item more suitable for fall.
2. Thick fabrics + Lightweight fabrics
Pairing airy fabrics with thicker ones, like a cotton shirt and velvet heels, creates balance between summer and fall pieces.
3. Sleeve length
A shirt with three-quarter length sleeves provides warmth as the seasons change. I also can’t wait to pair this skirt with chunky sweaters and fall jackets.

As we transition from summer to fall, I’d wear this outfit pretty much anywhere. With heels, this top and skirt combo is perfect for date night. I’d swap the heels for flats to wear this outfit out to run errands or to work.
