Happy Halloween and YAY for it being Wedding Week on the blog! We received our wedding photos from the very talented Elizabeth Carrie Photography, and I can’t wait to share all my favorites with you each day this week.

Let’s start with my romantic bridal look, shall we?

THE DRESS & VEIL

While wedding dress shopping, I always gravitated toward dresses with the same three things: A-line silhouettes, sweetheart bodices and lace.

I tried on what became my wedding dress at the third bridal boutique we visited, Weddings by Design. The two-tone tulle skirt and train of this Essense of Australia wedding dress completely stole my heart the second I put it on.

{Psst… This is the most stunning bridal hanger EVER.}

I originally ordered a jeweled belt to pair with my dress but decided a few weeks before the wedding I wanted something more understated. In the end, I opted for the ribbon belt that came with the dress to accentuate my waist.

When it came to wearing a veil, it took a little convincing from my mom and stepmom to make me see the beauty in wearing one during the ceremony and for some pictures — after seeing the photos, I’m so happy I finally came around.

My simple cathedral-length veil added the perfect traditional touch to my not-so-traditional blush dress.

THE HAIR & MAKEUP

For my wedding hair and makeup, we chose Penelopie Beauty Bar after they came highly recommended from my friend Katelyn of Katalina Girl.

We loved working with the Penelopie team, which included a hair and makeup trial for me, as well as having them travel to our wedding venue to do my hair and makeup and the bridesmaids’ hair.

I wanted my wedding makeup to be an enhanced version of what I wear day to day — not over-the-top but dramatic enough to look pretty when professionally photographed. Learn more about the makeup products we used at the end of the post.

When it came to choosing a wedding hairstyle, I knew I wanted to wear my hair down to keep things soft and romantic. My hair piece was an absolute steal. I searched for the perfect Lauren Conrad-inspired wedding hair clip for months with no luck. When I found this one on Amazon, it felt like fate, especially when I saw the price {it’s less than $25}.

THE ACCESSORIES

One of my favorite things about our day was how personal it was for not only Chase and me but for our families. For us, the sentimental details made all the difference.

My engagement ring (my something old) belonged to Chase’s great grandmother and Chase’s wedding band belonged to his great grandfather.

My dad gave me a {handkerchief} the morning of the wedding, which I wrapped around my bouquet.

I borrowed the beaded clutch Chase’s mom used at her wedding and used it to store my accessories on the big day.

I wore my late grandma’s garter from 1963, which served as my “something blue” thanks to its faded blue bow. Of course, I wore a second garter for the garter toss.

Even my wedding shoes {which you can find here} have sentimental value. My bridesmaid Kate took a plain pair of ballet flats I bought on Amazon and worked her design magic to make them beautiful for the wedding. And for luck, my mom gifted me with a penny from the year Chase and I met for my shoe.
